Welcome to our Farm Animal Sanctuary

Welcome to our cherished farm animal sanctuary, a haven of inclusivity nestled in the heart of Fauquier County. At our small non-profit , our passion lies in fostering connections between people and the wonders of the rescued farm animals. We're dedicated to spreading the joy and affection that our farm animals bring to all who volunteer. Our diverse family of farm animals includes pot-belly pigs, ponies, horses, mini ponies, gentle giants in the form of farm dogs, adorable bunny, guinea pigs, charming sheep, and the ever-so-endearing donkeys. Each one of these delightful creatures is not just a resident of our sanctuary, but an integral part of our mission to educate and share love. One of the many ways we open our sanctuary to the community is through  private sanctuary volunteer excursions. These excursions offer the opportunity to snuggle up to our animals, feed them, and experience the unique bond that forms between humans and animals. Our aim is not only to create enjoyable memories but also to empower you with knowledge about feeding and caring for these amazing animals. Looking to deepen your experience? Our riding lessons are designed to guide you step by step into the world of horseback riding through volunteer riding, grooming and caretaking opportunities, fostering a connection that goes beyond words. For those who seek alternative educational experiences, our homeschool volunteering field trips provide a unique opportunity to explore the intersection of nature, compassion, and learning. But what truly sets us apart is our commitment to being a sanctuary of acceptance. We embrace individuals of all ages and backgrounds, including those with physical, intellectual, or neurological differences. Our sanctuary stands as a refuge where authenticity is celebrated and judgment has no place. Our animals, true embodiments of unconditional love, see only the affection and kindness that every visitor brings. In joining us, you're not just engaging with animals; you're becoming part of a community united by a shared love for life in all its forms. Our sanctuary thrives because of the connections we build, the smiles we create, and the memories we craft. Whether you're on an sanctuary excursion, enjoying a lesson through volunteer opportunity, know that you've found a place where acceptance and love are the guiding principles.

We are the Garney family, and our journey has been one of compassion and transformation. Our love for adoption began when we adopted our two wonderful children 16 years ago, igniting a passion for building families through adoption. To further this mission, we established an adoption support group alongside our agency, fostering connections and hope within our community. In the tapestry of time, we find ourselves at Haven Hills Farm and Sanctuary, guided by a higher purpose. Our path took an unexpected turn when our son, with special needs, discovered a newfound sense of purpose volunteering at a local animal rescue sanctuary. This experience, a turning point, kindled a deep connection for my son with the animals and a profound sense of accomplishment. Our daughter, inspired by her brother, joined in volunteering with the horses, weaving us further into this world of compassion and care. Renee Small, the sanctuary owner and our guiding light, became our mentor. Under her tutelage, our family learned the art of nurturing and advocating for animals in need. This transformative bond awakened our hearts to the essence of rescue and adoption. Now, as stewards of Haven Hills Farm and Sanctuary, we aspire to share the blessings we've received. Our desire is to extend the same love and knowledge to our community through volunteering with sanctuary excursions, equine caretaking and riding, and volunteer homeschool field trips. Every corner of our sanctuary resonates with the echo of our experiences, shaping a sanctuary that not only nurtures animals but also nurtures the souls of all who visit. When you support our volunteering sanctuary excursions, know that your generosity directly sustains and cares for our beloved animals. Every dime is a promise fulfilled – a promise to provide nourishment, shelter, and unwavering care. Our journey is a tapestry woven by love, resilience, and the belief that the kindness we give to these animals ripples outwards, embracing our community in its warmth.
